Why sell by auction?
Auctions are an excellent and stress free way to sell your unwanted items or dispose of entire estates or collections.
We deal directly with the buyer and your identity remains anonymous. We answer the clients questions so that you don’t have to. On the fall of Hammer the buyer is contractually obliged to complete the purchase and funds should be with you within 21 days of the sale.
Auctions provide a sense of urgency for buyers, and provide competition, often leading to higher prices than a conventional private sale.

How does it work?
Simply contact us to discuss any items you may wish to sell. We’ll advise you on potential values and the best way to present your lots to achieve the best prices. All discussions are confidential and if you decide not to proceed with a sale then the matter is closed.
Items can be sold with or without a reserve. A reserve price is a minimum price that you wish to receive for you item and acts as a backstop in case an item doesn’t receive bids in line with its perceived value.
We handle all aspects of the sale, descriptions, photography, dealing with potential buyers, and we also offer an after sale shipping service to encourage online bidders and those unable to travel to the sale.
Once consigned you’ll receive a summary of the items placed in our care and around two weeks before the sale you will receive an email confirming the items we are offering on your behalf and any reserves you have placed on them.
After the sale you’ll receive a post sale notice detailing what has sold and what it sold for, and within 21 days of the end of the sale you’ll receive your payout (less our commission).
For unsold lots, we provide storage for 30 days following the sale during which time we can discuss if you would like to collect them or enter them in a subsequent sale.
What does it cost?
Our fees are really simple. We take 14% + VAT of the Hammer Price (the final bid).
There are no hidden charges, lotting fees, pre sale storage fees, photography fees or anything else, just single fee that covers all our services
For Motor Vehicles (Cars & Motorcycles) we charge a reduced fee of 5% + VAT. Storage and other arrangements are tailored to suit the specific needs of the vehicles and your circumstances. These may include a storage charge if we have to receive the vehicle in advance of the sale, but this can all be discussed and agreed pre consignment.
Please note that if you ask us to collect your consignment we may charge mileage (60p + VAT per mile). We do not as a rule offer a collections service but in certain circumstances we can accommodate requests to do so.
