Transport Collector Auctions was founded in 2004 by Peter Card. Peter is a well known authority on early cycling, in particular Lucas Cycle Lamps on which he has recently published his definitive work on the subject.
The premise behind TCA is a simple one. A no fuss straightforward service with no hidden fees. Many auctioneers charge for listing, photographing and a whole host of other reasons. We charge our vendors a flat fee, and our buyers pay a flat commission, with additional charges for uplift from the saleroom in the event that lots are not collected on the day, and clear storage charges for those not collected within two weeks of the sale. We also offer a postage service for selected lots and are happy to work with your third party agents to arrange collections.
Similarly our Valuations service is a no-nonsense affair with confidential, honest and frank advice on the value of your goods and the best way to disperse them.
In 2024 Peter agreed to sell TCA to Adam and Laura Brown, both of whom are well known in the pre war Motoring & Cycling worlds.
Laura has run her Vintage Cycle business for over a decade, supplying Veteran and Vintage Cycles as well as parts all around the globe. A former Penny Farthing racing champion Laura also has a keen interest in early motoring regularly piloting her and Adams 1903 Stanley Steamer on the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, as well as using their 1928 Humber 14/40 as a daily driver in the warmer months.
Adam is best known via Craftmaster Paints which he has run since 2010, supplying quality historic brush applied paints to all areas of heritage transport including famous railway locomotives such as Flying Scotsman and Tornado. He is current chairman of the Fairground Heritage Trust, and is also a frequent pilot of his extensive collection of Vintage & Veteran Cars. With Laura he is currently restoring a 1934 Lagonda M45 Saloon, and has been involved with historic vehicles since his earliest years.
